Claude Fable 5.1 financial forecast workflow with MosoFin.
Build a forecast from authorized QuickBooks records. Keep actuals, assumptions, entity scope, and reviewer approval visible.
What this workflow does
Quick answer: MosoFin supplies permission-scoped, read-only QuickBooks data. Fable creates the forecast artifact. A human reviewer checks the result against source records and assumptions.
Current boundary: this is a documented demonstration, not an announcement that MosoFin has released forecasting or formal consolidation. QuickBooks remains the system of record, and MosoFin cannot write changes back.
Based on Anthropic’s Fable overview and the official Fable 5.1 documentation.
A multi-entity cash forecast in Claude.
The demonstration covers dashboard construction, actuals, scenarios, backtesting, and the final review.
Watch on YouTube ↗Install the multi-entity forecast dashboard.
The skill creates a single interactive HTML dashboard with Overview, Accounts, Forecast, and Report views. It can use authorized MosoFin data with your consent or a manual CSV.
curl -sL https://github.com/MosoFin/mosofin-finance-skills/archive/refs/heads/main.tar.gz | tar -xz -C ~/.claude/skills --strip-components=2 mosofin-finance-skills-main/dashboards/multi-entity-forecast-dashboard Installs only this dashboard into ~/.claude/skills/multi-entity-forecast-dashboard. Python 3 is the only runtime dependency.
Build and check the forecast.
Keep each input, calculation, and approval traceable.
- 01
Choose the data path
Use authorized QuickBooks data through MosoFin or a reviewed manual file.
- 02
Select the authorized scope
Name the workspace and entities to include. Do not let the model choose among company files.
- 03
Confirm context and access
Verify company names, reporting period, connection status, accounting basis, and MosoFin’s read-only boundary before analysis begins.
- 04
Separate actuals from assumptions
Label source records, management assumptions, and model-generated calculations so reviewers can see where every material input came from.
- 05
Build reviewable scenarios
Create conservative, base, and upside paths with visible driver changes. These are scenarios, not statistical probabilities.
- 06
Keep entity detail visible
Show entity-level and group views. Disclose intercompany balances separately and never eliminate them silently.
- 07
Inspect the forecast artifact
Review overview, account, forecast, and report views; validate opening cash, monthly roll-forwards, scenario math, and material variances.
- 08
Backtest against actuals
Compare a prior forecast with the period that actually occurred, explain the largest misses, and update the next set of assumptions.
- 09
Refresh, trace, and approve
Record the data timestamp, trace material findings to source records, and require a finance professional or business owner to approve the output.

Forecasting questions
Is this the same as formal financial consolidation?
No. A selected-entity group view is an analysis artifact. It does not provide formal consolidation controls such as intercompany eliminations, currency translation, close workflows, or consolidation adjustments.
Can the workflow change QuickBooks records?
No. MosoFin’s QuickBooks connection is read-only. The workflow can retrieve and analyze authorized records, but it cannot create, update, delete, post, send, or pay through QuickBooks.
Why backtest the forecast?
Backtesting compares a prior forecast with known actual results. It helps reviewers identify weak assumptions, timing errors, missing commitments, and model logic that should be corrected before the next forecast.
Which live data sources can this workflow use today?
QuickBooks is the confirmed live data source for this workflow. Check MosoFin’s Connections directory for current availability of other sources; a marketplace listing or setup guide alone does not confirm live data retrieval.
