A data connection is only useful if its scope is understandable.
The practical question is not just whether an AI can see the books. It is what it can retrieve, for which selected workspace, where the answer appears, and whether it can alter the source records.
A broad connection creates uncertainty
A review workflow needs an explicit workspace and permission boundary so users know what data is available for a given question.
The responsibilities need to be separated
Claude carries the conversation and reasoning. MosoFin provides the data workspace and source agent. The user retains review and approval.
Read access should not turn into write access
A connection for financial review should be explicit about whether it can post, pay, update, or delete source records. MosoFin’s current QuickBooks tools cannot.
How the MosoFin MCP connection works in Claude.
The connection is designed around a deliberate scope: an authorized workspace, permitted data tools, a plain-language request, and user review of the result.
-
Add MosoFin in Claude and sign in
Connect MosoFin through Claude’s connector flow. A Claude account is required and billed separately by Anthropic.
-
Select the workspace for the task
The workspace establishes the relevant permissions and activity history. Select the workspace or workspaces authorized for the question.
-
Ask a scoped question
Specify the period, company or client context, and output needed. Claude requests the permitted data through Bea’s read-only tools.
-
Review the response and source support
Use the result as a review aid. You remain responsible for accounting judgment, approval, and any action taken outside MosoFin.
